Why Blackneedle ??

As part of the many tools required to preform Motor Trimming, an Upholsterer would be lost without his faithful Industrial Sewing Machine. Equivalent to ones right arm the Singer 132 K6 is where we derived the nick name blackneedle, which we have now taken on as our current trading name. Nothing more than a tribute to a marvelous piece of machinery which has served many a trimmer over possibly the last 80 years. During my apprenticeship the race was always on, that is the race to jump on the workshops favorite black sewing machine. We had more than one machine naturally but that faithful old blackneedle never seemed to give us any trouble whatsoever.

Call it a myth, call it superstition but it never ceases to amaze me that the old fashioned engineering of these all time classics willfully allows them to preform their duties without so much as a missed stitch. Many a manufacturers have tried to reproduce such a simplistic yet worthy machine but it can honestly be said that there will always only be one blackneedle.
